Christopher_WestWe Bring Top Speakers To You...

What could be better? The SURVIVING DIVORCE series brings top Catholic experts right into your meeting room! There’s no need for arranging programs, deciding topics, or trying to find—or pay--qualified guest speakers.

Our Content Is Catholic
In each session you’ll hear from well-known and respected authors, teachers, priests, annulment advocates, theologians, and psychologists who know about divorce healing.  You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and hopefully you’ll be encouraged by the testimonies of men and women who—like you—have gone through, or may be considering, divorce.

You CAN Run a Group in Your Own Parish
We've made it easy for you and others in the community to have a safe place to meet and share, support, and learn.

What Will I Need?
KleenexAll you need is your pastor’s permission, a room at your church with a TV/ DVD player, comfortable chairs, and a restroom.  Coffee, cookies . . . and, of course, Kleenex.

How Do I Get My Pastor's Permission?
You might ask him for a 15-20 minute appointment. Begin with your desire to help the hurting in the parish. Be prepared to show him our website where he can view the introduction to the series and a short clip of the DVDs right on our home page.  Assure him the work has been done and there is nothing extra that he has to do—except give his blessing.

How Long Is the Support Group Program?
Each of the 12 (30+/- minute) sessions is designed to be shown in one meeting. We suggest a minimum of one-and-a-half hours per meeting but two hours (about the same time as a feature film) seems to work best. That leaves plenty of time to meet and greet, watch the GroupDVD, and then share about the week’s topic or whatever the group needs to talk about. The 12-week program can be hosted up to 3x a year with breaks in between for summer or holidays.

While possible, we don’t encourage a 12-night program for the following reasons:

  1. With most people’s over-scheduled lives, prior commitments, or child/ visitation schedules, many will miss some important segments crucial to their healing.

  2. The DVD content is substantial and for the optimum benefits requires processing. Rushing through recovery is never a good idea!

Can Anyone Lead a Group?

Surviving_Divorce_CroppedAlmost! While it will help if you had had an experience facilitating groups, you don’t have to be an expert . . . we’ll help you!  Along with the DVDs you can use the Leader Guide that will help with meeting times, resources, rules of etiquette, confidentiality, and how to handle common problems that might occur. We also offer facilitator training sessions. Contact Rose Sweet for more information on training and other events.

Hopefully you’ll be able to find a team of volunteers to help, but even if it’s only are not alone!  We are here to help in any way we can, just contact us.
